Muslims and Christians pay tribute to the Virgin Mary together at special Assumption mass in Pontoise

Monday, August 15. In Pontoise, a town near Paris, a delegation of Muslims participated in the Mass of the Assumption of Mary at Pontoire Cathedral. Hikmet Turk, the president of the regional council of the Muslim faith in west Île-de-France, was in attendance, as well as Cheikh Saïd El Mouadoine, rector of Pontoise Mosque, and Afchine Alavi, representative of the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI) in Auvers-sur-Oise. They were joined by many members of the Iranian community who have been living in exile in the Val-d’Oise area. In a gesture of Muslim-Christian friendship, the attendees gathered around the uniting symbol of the Virgin Mary in solidarity against crimes committed in the name of Islam.
